Flexible TC Radial Finishing in Loose and 6-Ply Formats
Dedeco Sunburst TC radial discs provide a flexible, controlled finishing action for cleaning, deburring, surface preparation, blending and polishing. Their curved bristles follow contours, radiuses and irregular profiles while helping to preserve the underlying shape of the component.
Choose between a single loose disc for individual use or configurable stacking and a pre-assembled 6-ply wheel for a stable, ready-to-use 1/4″ (6.35mm) working face. Both formats use the same TC bristle profile and aluminium oxide grade system, but their centre holes and mounting arrangements are different.
Eight colour-coded grades are available, ranging from aggressive 36 grit surface correction through to fine 1 micron polishing. Select one grade for a defined process or combine several grades to create a controlled and repeatable finishing sequence.
Mounting hardware is not included. Loose discs use an MM506 mandrel or a radial disc screw adapter, while 6-ply wheels mount directly onto a compatible tapered mandrel. If you need a complete set of grades, choose the corresponding 3-ply or 6-ply assortment.
Why Choose TC Radial Discs?
Flexible Surface Contact
The curved TC bristles conform to contours, profiles and irregular surfaces, helping the abrasive follow the component rather than flattening its geometry.
Abrasive Throughout the Bristles
Aluminium oxide abrasive is distributed throughout the moulded polymer bristles, maintaining the cutting and finishing action progressively as the bristle tips wear.
From Surface Correction to Polishing
The eight-grade system supports aggressive cleaning, controlled deburring, surface blending, satin finishing and high-lustre polishing without a separate polishing compound.
TC or TA: Which 3″ Bristle Profile Should You Choose?
Choose TC when greater flexibility is required around curves, radiuses, profiles and irregular components. The thinner, curved bristles produce a conformable and controlled contact action.
Choose TA when firmer, more direct contact and a more aggressive action are preferred across flatter faces, accessible edges and heavier surface-preparation work.

Suitable Materials
These discs and wheels are suitable for finishing aluminium, brass, bronze, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, precious metals and other appropriate metals. They may also be used for selected wood, acrylic, resin and plastic applications.
Always test the selected grade on an inconspicuous area first, particularly when working on softer, coated or heat-sensitive materials.
Choose Loose Discs or a 6-Ply Wheel
Single Loose Disc
The loose format contains one 3″ TC disc 1/16″ (1.6mm) thick with a 3/8″ (9.5mm) centre hole. It is suitable for single-disc use or configuring a stack with matching loose discs.
- One loose radial disc in the selected grade
- Working width can be configured by stacking matching discs
- Use an MM506 mandrel or radial disc screw adapter
- Mounting hardware is not included
Pre-Assembled 6-Ply Wheel
The assembled format combines six matching radial disc layers within a central hub, creating a stable 1/4″ (6.35mm) working face with a 1/4″ (6.35mm) centre hole.
- One complete 6-ply wheel in the selected grade
- Defined working width for stable support and surface coverage
- Mounts directly onto a compatible tapered mandrel
- Mandrel is not included

Mounting & Machine Compatibility
Mounting Loose Discs
Loose discs have a 3/8″ (9.5mm) centre hole and require a compatible clamping or screw-adapter system.
- Use the MM506 Large Screw Nut Mandrel with drills, die grinders, flexible-shaft systems and compatible 6mm chuck tools
- Use a radial disc screw adapter on a compatible tapered spindle for bench-mounted finishing
- Stack only matching grades and clamp the discs securely
- Check that the assembled stack runs true before use
Mounting 6-Ply Wheels
The pre-assembled wheel has a 1/4″ (6.35mm) centre hole and mounts directly onto a suitable tapered mandrel.
- MM17 and MM32: Moleroda’s primary tapered-mandrel recommendations for 3″ wheel assemblies
- PB39 and PB38: Also compatible where their proportions better suit the machine or working access
- All four tapered mandrels have a 6mm shank for a compatible chuck or collet
- Wind the wheel fully and securely onto the taper before starting the machine
Bench-Lathe Use
Both formats can be used on a suitable variable-speed polishing lathe when fitted with the correct mounting system. The Foredom M.BL operates from 500–7,000 RPM. Mount loose discs with the appropriate radial disc screw adapter, or mount a 6-ply wheel on a compatible taper. Always operate within the lowest speed limit stated for the disc or wheel, mounting hardware and machine.
Operating & Safety Guidance
- Loose-disc maximum speed: 20,000 RPM
- 6-ply wheel recommended operating range: 3,000–18,000 RPM
- 6-ply wheel maximum speed: 25,000 RPM
- Never exceed the lowest maximum speed specified for the disc or wheel, mandrel, adapter, spindle or machine
- Install every disc or wheel so the curved bristles follow the correct direction of rotation
- Use matching grades when building a loose-disc stack
- Start at a lower speed and increase only where greater cutting action is required
- Use the bristle tips with light pressure rather than forcing the abrasive into the workpiece
- Keep the workpiece moving to control localised heat and uneven wear
- Inspect the abrasive and mounting system before every use
- Use suitable machine guarding, extraction and appropriate personal protective equipment
