Compare Three Standard TC Disc Sizes in One Assortment
This Dedeco mixed-size radial disc assortment combines 5/8″, 7/8″ and 1″ Sunburst TC standard-profile discs in one kit. It provides a practical way to compare how disc diameter affects access, control, surface coverage and cutting action before committing to larger quantities of a particular format.
The kit contains 80 loose radial discs across three diameters, together with three screw-top mandrels. Four discs are supplied in each included size and grade combination, allowing the discs to be tested individually or assembled into matching stacks.
The flexible, curved TC (Type C) bristles conform to contours, edges and irregular surfaces. The different sizes extend the working range from controlled detail finishing with 5/8″ discs through to greater surface coverage with the 1″ format, while the included grades determine the level of cutting and surface refinement.
Why Choose the Mixed-Size Assortment?
Compare Three Diameters
Trial 5/8″, 7/8″ and 1″ discs to establish the balance of access, visibility and surface coverage required for different components.
Explore a Broad Grade Range
Compare common finishing grades across the three sizes, with ultra-coarse options for the 1″ discs and micron grades for the 5/8″ and 7/8″ formats.
Develop Flexible Setups
Use discs individually for narrow contact or combine matching discs to evaluate wider and more supported working faces.
Mixed-Size or Single-Size Assortment?
Choose the mixed-size assortment when you want to sample 5/8″, 7/8″ and 1″ standard-profile discs or regularly work across components requiring different levels of access and surface coverage.
Choose a 5/8″ or 7/8″ single-size assortment when you need more discs per grade and want the complete seven-grade selection for one established diameter.
Or choose the 1″ single-size assortment for greater quantities of the larger discs and access to its complete eight-grade range, including the 6-micron and 1-micron grades omitted from this mixed-size kit.
Typical Applications
- Comparing disc diameters before selecting a preferred finishing format
- Developing repeatable cleaning, deburring and polishing sequences
- Finishing components with a mixture of detailed and broader surface features
- Cleaning oxidation, corrosion, contamination and suitable coatings
- Deburring machined, cast and fabricated components
- Blending scratches, machining marks and surface transitions
- Removing investment residue and refining jewellery castings
- Smoothing carved wood and removing raised fibres
- Progressing from initial surface preparation through to fine polishing
Suitable Materials
These discs can be used across suitable precious and non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, brass and bronze. They are also suitable for selected wood, acrylic, plastic and ceramic applications.
Always test the selected size and grade on an inconspicuous area first, particularly on softer, coated or heat-sensitive materials.

Choose the Correct Mandrel
The assortment includes three screw-top mandrels, with dimensions stated as shank x arbor:
- 1/8″ x 1.6mm (1/16″): For the 5/8″ and 7/8″ discs
- 2.35mm (3/32″) x 1.6mm (1/16″): For the 5/8″ and 7/8″ discs
- 1/8″ x 1/8″: For the 1″ discs
Select the mandrel whose shank exactly matches the machine, handpiece, chuck or collet being used.
Adjust the Working Width
Use one loose disc for the narrowest and most flexible contact or combine matching discs to create a wider and more supported finishing head.
- Only stack discs of the same diameter, profile and grade
- Align every disc in the same direction of rotation
- Ensure the mandrel screw remains fully and securely engaged
- Do not mix different grades within the same working stack
Operating & Safety Guidance
- Recommended operating range: 3,000–18,000 RPM
- Woodworking reference speed: Approximately 5,000 RPM
- Never exceed the lowest maximum speed stated for the disc, mandrel or machine
- Confirm that the selected mandrel shank and arbor suit both the tool and disc
- Install every disc so the tail of each curved bristle follows the direction of rotation
- Use the bristle tips with light pressure rather than forcing the discs into the workpiece
- Keep the tool moving to control localised heat and uneven wear
- Check that the screw-top mandrel is secure before starting the machine
- Use suitable machine guarding and appropriate personal protective equipment
