3M Scotch-Brite Radial Discs | Dedeco Sunburst Radial Discs

Large radial bristle discs provide a broad, consistent working face for cleaning, deburring, blending and surface refinement on compatible bench motors, polishing lathes and other suitably guarded low-speed machines.

Choose from firm Dedeco TA bristles for more aggressive work, curved Dedeco TC or 3M Type C bristles for greater conformity, or an unbranded economy alternative in a limited grade. Loose discs and complete eight-lap Dedeco wheel assemblies are available.

Choose Your Large Radial Disc or Wheel

Loose discs require a supported mounting system.
Use six to eight matching discs with the compatible flange and adapter.
Dedeco eight-lap assemblies already include a reusable flange and telescopic shaft adapter.

Choosing a 6" Radial Bristle Disc or Wheel

The products on this page share a nominal 6" (approximately 150mm) diameter, but differ in bristle profile, grade availability, supply format and price. Selecting by the required cutting action is more useful than choosing by brand or colour alone.

TA/Type A or TC/Type C Bristles?

TA or Type A: Firmer and More Aggressive

Dedeco Sunburst TA discs have firm, angled and single-directional bristles. They provide a stronger cutting action for heavier cleaning, deburring, stock reduction and surface preparation.

The 6" Dedeco Sunburst TA range is available in coarse 36, 50 and 80 grit grades, as individual loose discs or complete eight-lap assemblies.

TC or Type C: Curved and More Conformable

TC bristles are thinner and curved, allowing them to follow contours and irregular surfaces more readily. They are suited to controlled cleaning, blending, refining and progressive finishing where greater conformity is beneficial.

Dedeco uses the term TC, while 3M describes the equivalent curved profile as Type C. The terminology differs, but it identifies the same general bristle form.

Dedeco Sunburst TC

Offers the broadest selection, including grit and micron grades, with loose-disc and eight-lap assembly options.

3M Scotch-Brite Type C

Provides the established branded alternative in loose-disc format from 36 to 400 grit. These discs have also historically been known as Habras discs by Moleroda and its customers.

Economy 150mm radial discs

Provides a lower-cost, unbranded curved-bristle option where the available grade meets the application requirements. This is a limited-stock range.

Loose Discs or an 8-Lap Wheel Assembly?

Loose Discs

Loose discs provide the greatest flexibility for replacing worn leaves or configuring a working wheel using an existing mounting system. Use six to eight matching discs from the same product and grade, supported on both sides by the compatible flange.

Loose discs do not include the flange or machine adapter. The 3M and economy ranges are supplied exclusively in this format.

Dedeco 8-Lap Assemblies

The Dedeco TA and TC ranges can also be supplied as complete wheels containing eight matching discs. Each assembly is approximately 1/2" wide and includes a reusable flange with a telescopic adapter for compatible 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 7/8" and 1" parallel shafts.

An assembly is generally the more convenient starting point when a complete production wheel and mounting components are required. Once the discs are worn, the reusable flange can be fitted with six to eight compatible replacement discs.

A separate tapered-spindle adapter is available when an existing flanged assembly needs to be mounted on a suitable polishing pigtail or taper.

Selecting an Abrasive Grade

Start with the finest grade capable of removing the defect efficiently. A coarser grade cuts more quickly but leaves a more pronounced finish that may require further refining.

  • 36, 50 and 80 grit: Aggressive cleaning, deburring, corrosion removal and surface preparation. Available across the principal 3M and Dedeco ranges.
  • 120, 220 and 400 grit: Controlled cleaning, blending and progressive surface refinement. Available in the Dedeco TC and 3M Type C ranges.
  • 6 and 1 micron: Very fine refining and finishing stages available within the Dedeco TC range.
  • Economy range: Available only in the grade or grades shown on its product page and while stocks remain.

Do not select by colour alone. Grade naming, abrasive construction and performance can vary between manufacturers. Confirm the stated grade and intended application on the individual product page.

Mounting and Machine Compatibility

Large loose discs must be clamped into a supported working wheel before use. Do not operate an individual unsupported disc. Use six to eight matching leaves with the correct flange and an adapter suited to the machine shaft.

These large-format products are intended primarily for compatible bench motors, polishing lathes and suitably guarded low-speed machinery. Check the selected product, mounting components, shaft size and machine speed before use. Never exceed the lowest maximum-speed rating of any component in the assembled system.

When a Smaller Radial Disc is More Suitable

A 6" wheel is most effective where its broad working face and production capacity can be used safely. Smaller components, confined areas and detailed work may be better served by a smaller disc:

Small Radial Discs

for micromotors, rotary tools and detailed work

Medium Radial Discs

for drills, die grinders and compatible handheld machines
