Tripoli and Rouge: The Two-Stage Finish
Tripoli is a brown cutting compound that removes fine scratches and file marks. Rouge then colours the surface to a high shine.
- Cut with Tripoli on a firmer mop.
- Clean the piece thoroughly.
- Finish with rouge on a soft, clean mop.
- Clean again to remove rouge residue.
Keep separate mops for Tripoli and rouge: even a trace of Tripoli on a finishing mop will leave fine scratches. Solvent Cleaner Spray and Vienna Lime help remove residue between and after stages.
