Explore Every 7/8-inch TC Grade in Dedeco's Knife-Edge Disc Profile
Dedeco Sunburst 7/8″ TC Knife-Edge radial bristle discs use a tapered working profile to concentrate contact within grooves, channels, settings and other restricted areas.
This 43-piece assortment contains six Knife-Edge discs in each of the seven available grades, together with one mandrel with a 2.35mm (3/32″) shank. It provides enough of every grade to compare cutting action, establish a finishing sequence and continue working with the most suitable options.
Knife-Edge describes the tapered disc geometry. Each disc is 3.2mm (1/8″) thick at its widest point and narrows towards the working edge. Flexible, curved TC bristles help the disc follow detailed contours while limiting contact with adjacent surfaces.
Need to replenish a particular grade? Individual 7/8″ TC Knife-Edge discs are available separately.

Compare Every Grade
Trial the complete progression from coarse 80 grit through to ultra-fine 1 micron to identify a suitable starting point and finishing sequence.
Precision Knife-Edge Profile
The tapered working edge concentrates contact within grooves, settings, channels and detailed features that are difficult to reach with a broader disc profile.
Six Discs per Grade
Useful quantities of every grade support initial comparison, process development and continued work after the preferred sequence has been established.
Knife-Edge or Standard-Profile Loose Disc Assortment?
Choose the Knife-Edge assortment when a tapered working edge is needed for grooves, prongs, settings, channels and other restricted or recessed areas.
Choose the 86-piece standard-profile assortment for a thinner, flatter working face suited to general cleaning, blending and polishing. Its discs can be used individually or combined in matching stacks, with 12 discs per grade and both 2.35mm and 3.18mm shank mandrels included.
Typical Applications
- Comparing the complete Knife-Edge disc grade range
- Cleaning and finishing grooves, slots and narrow channels
- Working around prongs, settings and intricate jewellery features
- Controlled deburring of restricted edges and internal profiles
- Removing localised oxidation and light surface contamination
- Refining cast jewellery, dental work and precision components
- Blending and smoothing detailed or recessed areas
- Progressing from initial cleaning through to fine polishing in difficult-to-reach areas
Suitable Materials
These discs can be used across suitable precious and non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, brass and bronze. They are also suitable for selected wood, acrylic, plastic and ceramic applications.
Always test the selected grade on an inconspicuous area first, particularly on softer, coated or heat-sensitive materials.

Using the Knife-Edge Profile
The tapered disc profile concentrates abrasive contact towards its narrow outer edge.
- Fit one Knife-Edge disc securely to the supplied mandrel
- Present the tapered working edge to the feature being finished
- Install the disc in its marked direction of rotation
- Ensure that the screw-top mandrel remains fully engaged
Stacking for Bespoke Tasks
For most applications, use a single disc to retain the narrow, tapered Knife-Edge profile. This provides controlled access to grooves, channels, prongs, settings and other restricted areas while limiting contact with adjacent surfaces.
Multiple matching discs can be stacked for highly bespoke tasks where a wider or more supported working edge is required. When stacking:
- Only combine discs of the same diameter, profile and grade
- Fit every disc facing the same direction
- Do not exceed the secure capacity of the mandrel
- Ensure the retaining screw is fully engaged before use
Operating & Safety Guidance
- Recommended operating range: 3,000–18,000 RPM
- Woodworking reference speed: Approximately 5,000 RPM
- Never exceed the lowest maximum speed stated for the disc, mandrel or machine
- Confirm that the 2.35mm mandrel shank matches the machine or collet
- Install every disc so the tail of each curved bristle follows the direction of rotation
- Use the tapered bristle edge with light pressure rather than forcing it into the workpiece
- Keep the tool moving to control localised heat and uneven wear
- Check that the screw-top mandrel is secure before starting the machine
- Use suitable machine guarding and appropriate personal protective equipment
