Micro Welders for Mould & Tool Repair

Micro welders are precision TIG welders that build up very small, controlled amounts of material on moulds, dies and tool steel. A fine, stable arc and pulse welding with short contact times keep heat input low, so cracks, edges, corners and worn features can be repaired with little distortion and then re-machined or polished.

Moleroda supplies three JOKE systems: the Easy Spot for fine steel repair, the MultiSpot 3 AC/DC pulse set for steel and aluminium, and the portable ENESKA impulse 230. Repairing tools in-house with a micro welder avoids sending them out for subcontract laser welding and the downtime that goes with it.

Torches, foot switches, filler wires, microscopes and lighting are in Welding Accessories.

Choosing the Right Micro Welder

All three use pulse TIG welding for fine repair work. Choose by the materials you weld, how much material you need to lay down, and whether the welder needs to move around the workshop.

WelderKey SpecificationSupplied AsChoose It When
Easy Spot5–165 A; pulse contact time 40–400 msControl box, foot control and earth cableYou repair low and high alloy tool steels and want a compact, cost-effective entry into micro welding.
MultiSpot 3AC/DC pulse; filler wire down to 0.2mm; optional water coolingComplete set with torch pack, foot pedal, pulse switch and electrodesYou weld steel and aluminium, need the finest edge work, or want cooling for heavier continuous welding.
ENESKA impulse 2303–230 A; 7.3kgWelding unit, or starter kit with torch, foot switch, earth cable and gas regulatorYou need a portable, higher-output system that also uses MultiSpot and Easy Spot torches and accessories.

Ask about a demonstration and training at your workshop before you choose.

Micro Welding for Mould and Tool Repair

  • Cracks and breaks: close small cracks in injection mould tooling before re-machining.
  • Edges and corners: rebuild chipped or worn parting lines, edges and shut-offs.
  • Worn or mis-machined features: build up material, then re-machine, stone or polish back to size.
  • Die and tool modification: add material for design changes without remaking the part.

Micro Welding or Laser Welding?

Micro TIG and pulse arc welders deliver laser-like results on tool steel at a fraction of the cost of a laser system, and lay down more material for heavier build-up. Precision laser welders put even less heat into the part and suit the finest work, such as jewellery, dental and very small mould details. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

A micro welder is a precision TIG welder with fine current control and a pulse function, used to add very small amounts of material. It is widely used for repairing moulds, dies and tool steel.

For many tool steel repairs, yes. Pulse TIG micro welding gives laser-like results at a fraction of the cost, although a laser welder still puts less heat into the part for the very finest details.

Choose the Easy Spot for compact, cost-effective repair of tool steels, the MultiSpot 3 for steel and aluminium with the finest edge work, or the ENESKA impulse 230 for a portable, higher-output system.

The MultiSpot 3 is an AC/DC unit that welds aluminium as well as steel. The Easy Spot is designed for low and high alloy steels.

The MultiSpot 3 set and the ENESKA impulse 230 starter kit include a torch and foot switch. The Easy Spot is supplied as the control box, foot control and earth cable, with torches, filler wires and microscopes available separately.
