Polishing Stainless Steel in Stages
| Stage | Compounds | Mop |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy cut | Ferrocut 3050, Abracut, Titan, Menzerna 456G | Firm, such as sisal |
| Balanced cut | Senior 4040, 1st Stage Coarse Cutting Compounds | Firm to medium |
| Mirror finish | 3rd Stage Mirror Finishing Compounds, including Menzerna P175 and M5 | Soft |

Clean the part between stages and use a separate mop for each compound. For small jobs, the Small 4x1 Compound Bars include options for ferrous metals.
Weld Discolouration
Heat tint around stainless steel welds should be removed before polishing. Antox 71-E Pickling Paste removes heat tint and oxide scale and re-passivates the surface to restore corrosion resistance.

Prepare with abrasives, cut with a high-cut compound, refine, then finish with a mirror compound on a soft mop, cleaning between each stage. See our mirror finish guide.
