Introduction – The benefits of using an ultrasonic polisher

This blog details the benefits of using an ultrasonic polisher and specifically the ENESKAsonic ultrasonic. It explains why you would use it and how it works. We explain what tooling you can use in the system and why the ENESKA brand is the most have brand for ultrasonic systems.

When to use an Ultrasonic Polisher

If you have an area to polish or clean, when would you use an Ultrasonic polisher?

– When the area is too small to use a rotary point
– If the area is too delicate for a rotary point
– When the area is too hard to reach with a rotary point
– If you need to remove microns from the surface

Using the ENESKAsonic ultrasonic polishing machine allows 100% precision whilst polishing with 100% control.

Ultrasonic polishing has come traditionally from the mould tool making industry where EDM sparking is required to be removed without damaging the surface. It is still very popular for this process, but more industries are now taking on this precision tool.

The Jewellery industry has changed, since 3D printing is more extensively used where detailed casting need to be cleaned  – this tool is a must have.

AM and industries and other Precision Machines components are finding uses for this cleaning and polishing tool.

How does the ENESKAsonic work?

The handpiece on the ENESKAsonic send soundwaves through the handpiece to the tip of the polishing tool.

This creates a sound vibration vibrating the polishing point at 40’000 times per second with 40 micron movement.

The benefits of using an ultrasonic polisher like this means that there is zero vibration to your hand. The only noise you can hear is a high-pitched sound sometimes, which is not too offensive.

The ENESKAsonic has innovative technology.  It decides on the power it needs itself, by sending a sound wave to the tip and back and recording the frequency needed to work at 100% performance.

This means that when a polishing file gets smaller, you can just press the tune button and it resets the desired frequency.

The user can also decide how much power to use, so if they are working on a piece of jewellery and need to be very delicate, you can  work at 10% power, whereas when working on a piece of steel you may go at 60%.

What can I use in the ENESKAsonic?

We, at Moleroda regularly recommend Ultra Fine Ceramic files as they perform so well on this machine. Ceramic files are used in most precision polishing shops in the UK. They can go as fine as 2000 grade.

We also have customers who are using the Hard Wood Lapping sticks with Diamond Compound to get the mirror finish on their parts.

We recommend the following tools for for ENESKAsonic, all of which have links below:

• Ultra Fine Ceramic stones from 120g to 3000grit
• Polishing stones – Y2k, Res cut, R-Max stones are best for Ultrasonic machines
• Hard Wood lapping sticks with diamond compound
• Diamond machine files

And always remember to use any of these tools with a lubricant such as solvent cleaner or lapping fluid.
